A CBG plant doesn't just need an EPC contractor. It needs an end-to-end engineering partner.
Many CBG EPC proposals focus only on the digester, purifier and compressor. Plant performance is decided earlier, in feedstock preparation, and later, in digestate value. Biovardhan covers all three stages: Pre-CBG + CBG + Post-CBG.

- Feedstock assessment & supply planning
- Bale handling, shredding & crushing
- Twin-screw biomass shearing
- Slurry preparation & controlled feeding
CBG Digestion to Clean Fuel

Feedstock first. Engineering second. Equipment third.
Building a CBG plant on paper is easy. Building one that reliably produces its designed gas quantity and quality is the real engineering challenge.
Feedstock-specific design
We characterise cow dung, paddy straw, mustard straw, Napier grass, press mud or food waste before deciding retention time, organic loading and pretreatment. We don't copy-paste a design.
In-house manufacturing
About 125,000 sq. ft. of covered manufacturing infrastructure for agitators, shearing machines and plant components. That gives better localisation, serviceability and lifecycle support.
International technology partner
Authorized Channel Partner of AMOCO Membrane Gas Holders for India, bringing proven membrane gas-storage technology into CBG projects.
CBG standardisation initiative
Our in-house panel of scientists and technical experts builds feedstock-wise standard operating frameworks. The sequence is data, then process optimisation, then pilot validation, then commercial deployment.
Revenue beyond gas
Digestate is engineered into FOM, LFOM, biochar or pellets from day one. Eligible FOM/LFOM/PROM can also earn Market Development Assistance.
Support after commissioning
Biological stabilisation, operator training, one-year ramp-up support, feedstock supply-chain management and long-term O&M.
Agricultural residue, energy crops and organic waste into CBG
Paddy straw (parali)
Turns stubble that would be burned into CBG and FOM. Needs bale shredding, hammer milling and shearing before digestion.
Paddy straw CBG plant → Energy cropNapier grass
High-yield, multi-cut energy crop that gives a dependable year-round feedstock supply.
Napier grass CBG plant → Easy digestionCattle dung & gaushala waste
Stable, well-buffered substrate. Works well on its own or co-digested with crop residues.
Process & feedstocks →Press mud
Sugar-mill by-product with good biogas potential. Suits plants located near sugar factories.
Food & municipal organic waste
Mandi, market and segregated MSW organic fractions for urban CBG plants.
Other crop residues
Mustard straw, wheat straw, sugarcane trash, maize and cotton stalk, all assessed project by project.

Frequently asked questions
A CBG (Compressed Biogas) plant converts organic waste — paddy straw, Napier grass, cattle dung, press mud, food or municipal organic waste — into biogas through anaerobic digestion. The raw biogas is cleaned of H₂S, moisture and CO₂ to raise methane purity and then compressed into CBG, a renewable fuel with properties similar to CNG. The leftover digestate becomes organic manure such as FOM or LFOM.
A CBG plant can be profitable when it is designed around a secure, correctly characterised feedstock, has assured gas offtake and sells its digestate as organic manure. Since August 2026 the GOBARdhan National Unified Scheme adds assured offtake, a stable pricing framework and capital assistance, which improves project bankability. Profitability still depends on feedstock cost, plant uptime and realistic gas-yield assumptions — which is why Biovardhan starts every project with feedstock study and a DPR.
Cost depends on capacity (TPD of CBG), feedstock, digester technology, upgrading route, land and civil works. Published industry estimates range from around ₹15 crore for small plants to over ₹100 crore for large ones. See our CBG plant cost guide or contact us for a feedstock-specific estimate.
Under the GOBARdhan National Unified Scheme for CBG (₹23,731 crore outlay, FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36), eligible greenfield CBG projects can receive capital assistance of up to ₹2 crore per TPD of installed CBG capacity, subject to the notified guidelines. Read the full GOBARdhan CBG subsidy guide.
Typically about 40–60 kg of fresh cattle dung per kg of CBG. For comparison, roughly 20–28 kg of fresh Napier grass, 20–30 kg of press mud or 8–11 kg of air-dry paddy straw gives 1 kg of CBG. Try our feedstock-to-CBG yield calculator, and confirm with lab tests of your own feedstock.
There is no single best feedstock. Cattle dung and press mud digest easily; paddy straw and Napier grass give high gas potential but need proper mechanical pretreatment (shredding and shearing) because of their lignocellulosic fibre. Many profitable plants use a feedstock mix. We characterise your feedstock before freezing the plant design.
Yes. Along with EPC, we coordinate DPR, GOBARdhan unified registration, offtake/LOI, pollution control, PESO and other applicable approvals, and provide commissioning, one-year operational ramp-up support and post-installation O&M.
