Why Gujarat is ready for CBG
- Dairy cooperatives give organised, large-scale dung collection
- Early Napier-grass CBG plants have proven the energy-crop model in the state
- Large industrial gas users for direct CBG offtake
- Cotton stalk and other residues add feedstock diversity
Main CBG feedstocks in Gujarat
| Feedstock | What to plan for |
|---|---|
| Cattle dung | Abundant around dairy cooperatives. A stable base feedstock. |
| Napier grass | An energy crop for dependable year-round supply on irrigated land. |
| Cotton stalk | A major residue in cotton districts. Woody, so it needs strong size reduction. |
| Press mud & food-processing waste | Press mud from sugar mills in south Gujarat, plus agro-industrial organic waste. |

Recommended plant design for Gujarat
Napier + dung is the classic Gujarat design. Plan Napier cultivation (about 35–55 acres per TPD of CBG), harvest at 60–75 days and shear the grass before feeding. Where an industrial user is nearby, a direct supply agreement can simplify logistics compared with fuel-station cascades.

It can supplement other feedstocks, but it is woody and lignin-rich. It needs strong size reduction and is best co-digested with dung or Napier grass.
