Haryana at a glance
- Main CBG feedstock: Paddy straw + buffalo/cattle dung
- Typical plant size: 5–15 TPD (straw–dung co-digestion)
- Central support: GOBARdhan capital assistance up to ₹2 crore per TPD for eligible greenfield plants
- Biovardhan scope: feedstock study, DPR, approvals coordination, turnkey EPC, commissioning & O&M
Why Haryana is ready for CBG
- Paddy straw in the northern districts and a large dairy herd give a natural straw + dung feedstock mix
- Close to the NCR, with strong CNG, PNG and industrial gas demand and dense CGD networks
- Stubble-burning control is a priority, as in Punjab
- Good road connectivity for feedstock aggregation and cascade transport
Main CBG feedstocks in Haryana
| Feedstock | What to plan for |
|---|---|
| Paddy straw | Northern districts. Seasonal, so plan baling, storage and pretreatment. |
| Buffalo & cattle dung | Plentiful from dairy farms and gaushalas. Excellent co-substrate. |
| Mustard straw & cotton stalk | Western districts. Fibrous, so it needs the same shredding and shearing as paddy straw. |
| Press mud | Near sugar mills during the crushing season. |

Recommended plant design for Haryana
A straw + dung co-digestion plant is the usual Haryana design. Size the dung share for stability (dung contributes little gas per tonne but steadies the digesters), and the straw share for output. Check competing straw demand from 2G-ethanol and biomass-power projects nearby before fixing your collection radius.

Central & state support for CBG in Haryana
Under the GOBARdhan National Unified Scheme (₹23,731 crore, FY 2026-27 to FY 2035-36), eligible greenfield CBG projects in Haryana can receive capital assistance of up to ₹2 crore per TPD, along with assured offtake, a pricing framework and support for pipeline connectivity. The CBG blending obligation for CNG and PNG creates steady demand. State-level industrial, renewable-energy or bioenergy policies may offer further incentives. These change with notifications, so we check the current provisions for Haryana while preparing your DPR.

Frequently asked questions
In most Haryana projects, paddy straw co-digested with buffalo or cattle dung. In the western districts, mustard straw and cotton stalk can replace part of the paddy straw.
Yes. Haryana is close to the NCR, with heavy CNG demand from transport and established city gas distribution networks, so cascade or pipeline offtake is usually within reach.
It can. Biomass power and 2G-ethanol projects also buy straw, so secure aggregation contracts and a realistic collection radius in the DPR before ordering equipment.
